Abstract

Starting from the thought of a teacher must be a professional teacher, because the government has provided benefits with the term Teacher Certification. So researchers as principals carry out the task of guiding teachers to improve teacher performance in the teaching and learning process. If this is achieved, student learning outcomes also increase. To improve the teacher's performance in educating students, a teacher must be controlled by the principal through the Principal Coaching method. This supervision is not a scary thing, but it is a guidance action to find the obstacles of the teacher in planning and implementing the learning program. One school that applies the Principal Coaching method is SMP Negeri 2 Kandis. This method is divided into two cycles. Cycle I was used to find data and teacher barriers, while in cycle II it was used to apply the results of improvements to the teacher's barriers. Assessment Aspects are divided into two parts, namely: Documents Completeness of Teaching and Teacher Teaching Skills. Teacher Teaching Completeness Documents are carried out before starting learning, while Teacher Teaching Skills are carried out when a teacher conducts learning in front of the class. From the results of the research, the findings were found: (1) there was an increase in Teacher Teaching Completeness from 68.65% in the first cycle to 94.25% in the second cycle; (2) there was an increase in Teacher Teaching Skills from 63.20% in the first cycle to 91.13% in the second cycle. Thus it can be concluded that the use of the Principal Coaching method can improve the teacher's performance in the teaching and learning process in 2 Kandis Public Middle School in Kandak district, 2016/2017 school year.
